Better on Paper

Everything I see eventually becomes a poem

Grace Period

Bitter kindness

Ricocheting regret

Ticking hands on the clock

Not going fast enough

The gleam of my phone screen

Attempting to soothe my

Never-ending anxiety

A fantasy about flavours

To take away the edge of

Anything

A scroll on a page

To remove the building rage

You caused

I created a space where

I gave you grace

Regardless of your pace

I now grimace

If only I’d listened

Truth suffocated

Flailing deep in the ocean of

misconstrued thoughts

Submerged within me

I move to lie on my side

Afraid of what I may find
