Summer Interlude

The salty wind whips my cheeks as I pause before choosing to speak,

Gurgling warmth tickles me as I waddle through the waves.

My eyes are drawn to the jagged rocks in front of the caves that stave off the waves of dismay,

I gasp and stray from my initial path, taken aback by the sun’s rays

Laying on my skin, pinching heat pierces me from within.

I begin to scream in a whim

Or should I say shout as I have no doubt

Happiness has chosen today to join me in taking a swim.
